Last night I went to Headliners Music Hall with my husband to see 10 years in concert. My husband is a rocker at heart and in his youth, but due to crappy assignments and a recent deployment to Afghanistan he has not had his fill of concerts. He heard about the 10 years concert on 93.1 the Fox Rocks (which he listens to a lot considering his 45 minute commute each way to Ft. Knox) and I agreed, only because he was so excited about it.

The concert started at 7pm, but there were three bands on before 10 years - Cave Hill, Trust Divided, and Shy Away. We decided that we didn't need to see the entire show so we parked at Spring Street Bar & Grill and had dinner/drinks beforehand. Just an FYI Spring St. has $2.75 Bloody Mary's all day Sunday and the best homemade potato chips I've yet to have in Louisville.

We walked the 3 blocks to Headliners around 8:30 and payed the $12 each to get in. They have a full bar and ample space for all the fans. The stage was set up high enough that even my five-foot-tall self could see the band wherever I stood. The crowd was full of young rockers. I felt a bit out of place considering when I was getting dressed for the show I thought I was being alternative by mixing brown wooden jewelry with my black dress - I'm not joking. Also, at age 27, I felt slightly ancient. The dress code seemed to be jeans and t-shirts across the board - add in some adidas sneakers and a bandana and I would have fit right in!

10 years was awesome. There were probably 100-150 people at the show and they were all huge fans that knew every word to every song - my husband included. At one point the lead singer, Jesse Hasek, summed it up perfectly by saying, "I mean this from the bottom of my heart. These club gigs when I can smell you and you can smell me...this is the best environment." And it was. I had way more fun at my one night at Headliners than Forecastle and HullabaLOU combined...and I had never heard of 10 years before yesterday.
