Ever wonder how one of the world’s foremost news organizations tackles presidential campaigns? On Thursday, February 9, New York Times national editor Sam Sifton will discuss how his newspaper covers the run for the presidency.

Sifton, who was named national editor in September 2011, held several roles at the Times from 2002 onward, including restaurant critic, culture editor and deputy culture editor. He also worked as a critic, reporter and managing editor of the New York Press, an alternative weekly based in Manhattan, and a senior writer and editor at Talk magazine. He graduated magna cum laude in 1988 from Harvard College with a degree in history and literature, and is the author of 2000’s Field Guide to the Yettie: Stalking the Dot-Com Geek (Talk Miramax Books), a satirical guide to the new economy. (And if that’s not enough, he has 78,000 followers on Twitter.)

The free, public talk begins at 11 a.m. in Frazier Hall in the George G. Brown Center (building #5 at http://lou.ly/bumap), and is sponsored by Student Government and Bellarmine’s Interdisciplinary Courses (IDC).
