Social media is more about getting touch with old friends or keeping track of current events: It’s big business. As businesses compete to stay relevant, a new social approach to communications is vital.

This coming Thursday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m., author Deirdre Breakenridge will discuss “The Business of Social Media” at Bellarmine University. She will examine the hybrid approach to communications—an approach that focuses on using new practices and skill sets while remaining rooted in the best elements of the past, ultimately guiding strategic communications and building relationships for brands by engaging the socialized consumer.

Breakenridge is the author of four Financial Times books, including her most recent, Putting the Public Back in Public Relations, which she co-authored with Brian Solis.

The presentation, which will take place at Hilary’s in Horrigan Hall, is free and open to the public. To learn more, visit http://www.deirdrebreakenridge.com.
