I used to read Cracked religiously. Every article, every day. I enjoyed the humor, I enjoyed the little tidbits of information. Some hilarious videos, too. Eventually I fell too far behind – too much to read on my plate, between Cracked and local publications, also considering I always have a book going. So it fell by the wayside, but in my reading I got to recognize the various columnists and their styles and such. My favorite was one John Cheese, but there was another by name of David Wong who would continuously plug his horror-comedy novel “John Dies at the End.” I read along as he was writing it, as he got it published, as he advertised it, and I read as he announced some exciting news to him personally: the fact that the novel had been optioned by a Hollywood studio and would be adapted to film.
The film is done and out and, according to fans of bizarre horror-comedy, it's a pretty damn good watch. Chase Williamson and Rob Mayes star as David and John, respectively, two college dropouts who come into contact with Soy Sauce, a new street drug which propels its users across space and time. ). Unfortunately, the drug has the potential for some bizarre and gruesome side effects, and it is up to our heroes to save the world.
