Look, we probably can't speak frankly about certain things on this, my journalistic platform, but I'm sure we can understand each other if we speak very slowly and use small words, perhaps punctuated by hand gestures. Look: sometimes I get the munchies. I have known an intense hunger, where you keep shoveling food in your mouth and it's never enough. The immense satisfaction of food is a wonderful sensual experience – and sometimes, you crave something specific, and should you manage to acquire said particular food item, well, your night's just made. Usually it's junk food – pizza, pizza rolls, milkshakes, Juanita's Burger Boy (careful, though, about heading over there after going to the opera; one can tend to feel overdressed, then the dreaded paranoia sets in).
We are here to talk about a modern cult classic on just this subject: the 2004 stoner comedy Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
– and that's exactly what it's about. John Cho and Kal Penn star as the title characters, respectively. They get together one night for a little hanging out, a little marijuana, and, watching TV, they see a commercial for White Castle – and that's it. Nothing will do but to embark on an expedition to fulfill this epic craving with which they finally find themselves beset... no matter how many wacky shenanigans they have to endure in the process.
