    Bit to Do

If a visitor didn’t know any better, they may think that all exhibits at the Louisville Slugger Museum are purely for baseball fans. That’s just not so.

At the Topps Pop Culture: Homeruns to Hollywood exhibit, open from March 14 to October 4, 2015 at the Louisville Slugger Museum, rookie to all-star trading cards are on display—Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth are just a few among the many baseball legends you’ll find here.

It doesn’t stop there. The likes of Peyton Manning, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky line the cases. Sports fans across the board rejoice. And yet, it still doesn’t stop there. The Garbage Pail Kids and other non-sports themed cards—even artifacts like Luke Skywalkers’ lightsaber from Star Wars, Nichelle Nichols’ Lt. Uhura Costume from Star Trek and the mystical Jobu from Major League—sit as their cases are drooled over by bright-eyed fans.

A handcrafted wooden bike hangs on the wall, complete with a trading card in the spokes. Visitors give it a spin and are flooded with childhood memories.

Not often is an exhibit created to satisfy such a wide range. Topps and Louisville Slugger have done so wonderfully. Everyone in the family will discover a lost memory rushing back to greet them.

It’s already August, and October is just around the corner. Visitors should try their best to find time for this stellar exhibit because, from Star Trek: Voyager, “Survival is insufficient.” May the force be with you on your journey to the Louisville Slugger Museum.
