Do you have a budding Picasso on your hands? Hone your kids' talent with art camp this summer! The Mellwood Art Center is offering a summer camp from July 26th through August 6th for rising third through tenth graders.
The camp is split into two different classes that are based on age. The first class is called "Drawing Life" and is intended f
or rising 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th graders. It will take place on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4-7:00pm. The p
rice: $120/week plus the cost of materials.
In this two-week drawing course, students will be
introduced to realism, while exploring their own style and artistic
license. Through various drawing exercises, they will learn to draw
from first-hand observation, not photos, using charcoal and soft
pastels.
The second course is called "Bringing Art into Your Life" and is f
or rising 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders. It will run on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 10am-1pm. The p
rice for this class is $125/week.
In this two-week course, students will do the so-called
“crafty” art, re-painting old furniture, decorating garden pots and
tie-dyeing clothes. Students
will learn to see what kinds of creative treasures they can make
from the forgotten stuff in their basements.
For more information about the camp or to register, please contact the camp Art Instructor, Maria Kupper at (502) 523-4427 or e-mail her at mkupper4@gmail.com.
