It’s a nerd’s world. We live in a world where the biggest shows on t.v. are The Big Bang Theory, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Walking Dead. Weekends are owned each summer by movie theaters by superhero protagonists with names like Ironman, Captain America, and Batman. Considering this is the geek reality in which we all live, how can you be surprised that MC Chris, the Jay-Z of Nerdcore Hip-Hop, is becoming an increasingly large blip on our pop-culture radar?
Nerdcore is a boutique genre of hip-hop that is raging in the indie subculture of underground hip-hop. Where names like Optimus Rhyme, Schaffer the Darklord, and Commodore 64 – rap about video games, comic books, and long division. They’re generally known for their bratty swagger, and their veracious appetite for anything you might’ve gotten beat up for in middle school.
That said, tonight MC Chris is bringing his Foreverrr Tour to Expo 5. The Libertyville, IL native blew into the indie hip-hop scene in 2001 with Life’s a Bitch and I’m Her Pimp. He has continued to geek-out in couplet on a succession of albums Dungeon Master of Ceremonies, mc chris is dead, and mc chris goes to hell.
MC Chris is on currently on the road supporting his latest album Foreverrr, which was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The show will be a high energy release of all of our inner-nerd as they celebrate the little pocket of geek-dom that hides inside us all. The show will not just feature a killer set from MC Chris, but he is also bringing MC Lars and Spose with him on this trek across Middle Earth. Tickets are still available at Ticketmaster for $15, the show begins at 8 PM at Expo 5 – so come out tonight and nerd-out with the best of them.
