The oldest high school football rivalry in town is set for another chapter tonight as Manual high school welcomes Male, in a contest which sees both teams as state wide powerhouses. The game is set for a kickoff at 7:30.

Currently, Male is ranked #1 in the city of Louisville, and #3 in the state, boasting an 8-0 record. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive upset victory over national powerhouse Trinity last week. A week prior Male claimed a win over St. Xavier, and the Bulldogs will be looking to cap off a triple header with a “W” over major rival Manual.

Meanwhile, the Rams are no slouches themselves, ranked 10th in the state, Manual is currently 6-2, with their only losses coming at the hands of, ironically St. X and Trinity. However, Manual might just have the necessary fire to upset Male in 2013’s chapter to this ongoing novel.

In other high school football news, the 5-3 Fern Creek will travel to Eastern tonight to square off against the Eagles of Eastern. While a 6-2 Butler hosts Seneca in a game which promises to be a finesse matchup.

(3-5) Ballard has a homecoming tonight against Oldham County, in a crowd which will be donned in Halloween costumes; this according to some inside information.

In another game which promises to be a hard hitting affair Iroquois hosts Jeffersontown tonight, as the Chargers attempt to reinvigorate a season which has been challenging at points.

Southern squares off against Pleasure Ridge Park tonight in a matchup which always proves interesting, while Moore high school will be traveling to Bardstown, Kentucky for their game tonight against Nelson County.

While Moore is on their way to Bardstown, the 1-7 Waggener will be on the road to Taylorsville to take on Spencer County.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
