Going into High School football game day tonight I though it only appropriate to take a look at the top ranked teams, and where they stand locally.

    (2) Trinity surprisingly has amassed a 1-3 record as they go into Indianapolis tonight to square off against Indianapolis Cathedral high school at 8. To date though, the Shamrocks have only played national powerhouses, not meeting up with any area school. This changes of course next week, for the annual rivalry game against St. X at Papa John’s Stadium. That said, the team has suffered losses at home to Nashville’s Ensworth and Cincinnati’s Colerain, in addition they went down to Lawrence Central in Indianapolis. The Trinity Green was flowing for their victory over Carmel, in Carmel, Indiana though.

Speaking of (5) St. Xavier, they currently boast a 3-2 record as they play at Central tonight at 7:30. The Tigers grabbed victories against Ballard, Lexington Catholic, and Fairdale. Conversely, the team suffered defeats to Bowling Green and Archbishop Moeller.

The top ranked public school in town, (8) Male is currently undefeated under head coach Chris Wolfe, as they go to take on Ballard tonight. The Bulldogs have victories against Floyd Central, Butler, Fairdale, and Jeffersontown. Male will meet up with their long time Manual rivals on the 25th at Manual, and quite frankly I only mention that because as the longest running rivalry in Louisville high school football, I always find it interesting.

Currently ranked ninth in the state, is Shelbyville’s Collins High who has raked up a record of 3-1. The team goes to Atherton tonight to attempt to go 4-1 in the first half of the season, they have wins against South Oldham, Ballard, and Shelby County, while their only loss came at the hands of Independence, Kentucky’s Simon Kenton High School.

Did I mention Manual, because there ranked 10th in the state, and are also currently undefeated, beating Central, Fern Creek, Pleasure Ridge Park, and Ballard. They will meet up with Seneca tonight at Seneca.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
