The stadium, named after the Lynns after they contributed five million dollars towards seeing the project complete, is set to be the second largest sports complex on campus, second only to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium upon its completion which is set for fourteen months.

The Cards men’s soccer team has been steadily gaining momentum in recent years, making it to the 2010 NCAA championship.

Meanwhile, the Ladies’ team won the 2011 Big East championship and both teams have had notable all-stars that have gone pro.

This year, in fact, Freshman Marlon Hairston played for the All U.S. team in this year’s Toulon Tournament. In addition currently in Major League Soccer six Cards suit up, Rookie of the Year Austin Berry is a member of the Chicago Fire, meanwhile for DC United is Nick DeLeon, who despite suffering an injury has made a major impact in the league.

Louisville’s first round draft pick Andrew Farrell has become a major star for the New England Revolution, due to injury Aaron Horton now of the Columbus Crew hasn’t been able to prove his worth in the pro-leagues yet however there’s been plenty of talk surrounding him.
Meanwhile, the L.A. Galaxy now has two former Cards Greg Cochrane and Kenney Walker.

The University is still shy of completing the stadium financially but have been garnering interest from area sponsors.

    About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
