    • "With less than two weeks to go before the Nov. 2 election, Republican Rand Paul holds a slim lead over Democrat Jack Conway in their race for the U.S. Senate, a new Kentucky Poll shows. Paul, a favorite of the Tea Party movement whose campaign has focused on limited government, holds a 5 point lead over Conway among likely voters — 48 percent to 43 percent, with 9 percent undecided." [Bluegrass Politics]
    • "In a Louisville debate Wednesday, Republican challenger Todd Lally said it was “cowardly” for U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-3rd, to vote last month to adjourn the House for mid-term elections without approving an extension of the Bush-era tax cuts." [Courier-Journal]
    • "Republican Party of Kentucky chair Steve Robertson has sent a letter to Attorney General Jack Conway’s office calling for an investigation into the Greg Fischer/Jackie Green endorsement...LEO Weekly is taking the Courier-Journal to task on how this issue was covered. LEO (and WHAS-TV) published more information than the C-J, and the two papers had differing accounts of how the endorsement was made. LEO published an e-mail wherein Green says there may be room for him and his team in a Fischer administration, exposing a quid pro quo situation." [WFPL]
    • "The federal government has rejected a $135 million grant request for the Ohio River Bridges Project, choosing instead to issue $600 million to 75 ventures around the nation." [Courier-Journal]
    • "A week before her scheduled sentencing for trying to extort money from University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino, Karen Sypher has fired her lawyer and hired another who is seeking to disqualify the federal judge on the case because of his alleged ties to U of L." [Courier-Journal]
    • "Pitino, who must cringe every time Sypher's name comes up in the news, appears to be taking out his anger at the media by choosing not to do his TV show on WHAS-TV this year. The TV show, which was pretty entertaining for a Coach's show, was hosted by Terry Meiners.
Meiners, who has been doing Rick Pitino's TV show for 9 years, told listeners today that he's been told he's not welcome back to do the show this year. Pitino told the C-J's Rick Bozich today at the Big East media event that he was unhappy with the coverage of the Karen Sypher trial coverage on WHAS-TV, which has aired the coach's show, but that wasn't the reason Pitino decided not to do the show this year."
