    • "A Kentucky woman was convicted of demanding millions of dollars from Louisville Coach Rick Pitino to keep their one-night stand in a restaurant a secret, then claiming Pitino raped her after he reported the extortion. Karen Cunagin Sypher, 50, of Louisville, was found guilty of three counts of extortion, two counts of lying to the F.B.I. and one count of retaliating against a witness. The charges carry a maximum sentence of 26 years in prison." [New York Times]

    • "U.S. Republican Senate nominee Rand Paul is increasing his lead over Democratic nominee Jack Conway, according to a new poll released Thursday.The cn|2 Poll, conducted for Insight Communications, shows Paul leading Conway 40.6 percent to 31.4 percent, with 27 percent undecided."     • "A labor group said it will file for an injunction at 11 a.m. Friday in Franklin Circuit Court to block Gov. Steve Beshear from implementing a plan to furlough state workers for six days.
