    • "After several sources within Metro Government and animal welfare groups leaked to WFPL that the city had interviewed two candidates to take over Metro Animal Services permanently, Mayor Greg Fischer quickly announced his selection for a new permanent director Tuesday afternoon. From the mayor’s office: 'Justin Scally, of Washington D.C., currently is manger of the Puppy Mill Task Force for the Humane Society, where he supervises and manages the agency’s national effort to combat illegal animal operations.'" • "Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer says University of Louisville Hospital has a lot to lose if medical services are compromised in a pending merger with a division of Catholic Health Initiatives. Under the merger agreement, both University Hospital and Jewish Hospital will follow Catholic medical directives. That puts a number of services related to reproductive health and end-of-life care at risk of being stopped." [WFPL]
    • "We know you’ve all been waiting for Mayor Greg Fischer to weigh in on the debt ceiling debate. No? Well, he did anyway. In a press release this afternoon, Fischer urged 'both parties, Democrats and Republicans,' to 'put aside partisan differences and seal a deal that addresses the debt ceiling and balances a need for deficit reduction and job creation. Default would be a disaster for our country and have a trickle-down impact on our city.'" [LEO Weekly]
