    • "Republican mayoral candidate Hal Heiner's new television ad says it is time to end the Jefferson County Public School's 'failed student assignment plan.' The 30-second ad begins airing Tuesday on network and cable television, along with a longer version on radio. It will run at least through the end of the week. The ad begins with Heiner saying: 'For too long, we've accepted failing schools. Achieving true diversity doesn't come from kids leaving before breakfast and getting home after dinner.'" • "The Fairness Campaign, a Louisville group that promotes equal rights for gay and transgender people, has endorsed Democrat Greg Fischer for mayor. The organization said it endorsed Fischer 'with fervor.' Fischer's major-party opponent in the race is Republican Hal Heiner, a Louisville Metro Council member who voted against the Fairness Ordinance, which prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation." [Courier-Journal]
    • "In the Jeffersonville City Hall chambers, more than 70 people turned up heat on city council members and even more on paper. Everyone came to urge them to vote no to a bridge toll. 'Money has got to come from somewhere. I ain't got 2 thousand dollars extra a year to give out,' says one resident. However, in the end, the resolution failed by a six to one vote." [WHAS11]
