Questions have been growing around the proposed merger of University of Louisville, Jewish Hospital and Catholic Health Initiatives. - "State government ended the 2010-11 fiscal year with a $156.8 million surplus — $121.8 million of which will be put into the state's ‘rainy day' fund to help guard against future revenue shortages, the Beshear administration announced Wednesday. The rainy day fund — which held a balance as high as $279 million in 2001 — had been spent down to zero during the economic recession in recent years as state revenues plunged far below expectations."
