    Behind the organization’s #3 pitching prospect Daniel Corcino, the Bats dispatched the Rochester Red Wings 4-2 in front of nearly 6500 fans at Louisville Slugger Field Monday night. In just his second quality start all season, the 22 year old Corcino gave up 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4  without walking anyone and improved his record to 4-10 on the year. After Zach Duke came on in the 8th Logan Ondrusek earned his 1st save of the season to by finishing up the 9th as the Bats won. It was enough as 2B Jason Donald and C Nevin Ashley, the bottom two hitters in the lineup, combined to go 4-6 with 2 doubles, a triple, a run and an rbi. 3B Neftali Soto added an rbi single to extend his hitting streak to 10 games, and Mike Hessman added a rbi groundout as the Bats scored a run in each of the 1st four innings en route to the victory. Liam Hendricks took the loss for the Red Wings, giving up all four runs in 6 innings to take the loss. DH Jeff Clement hit a 2-run homerun in the 2nd for the Red Wings’ runs. With the win the Bats improved to 38-40, 13.5 games behind the division leading Indianapolis Indians, but only 4 games out of the Wild Card race. The Red Wings fell to 39-40.

    The Bats are back in action Tuesday night as they open a four game series at Louisville Slugger Field against the Knights of Charlotte. Starting pitcher Armando Galarraga will try to earn his 6th victory on the year, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. As always, Tuesday will feature $1 hot dogs and Pepsi’s.
