There’s a chance for you to get a look at the 2013 version of the Cincinnati Reds as the annual Reds Caravan, presented by Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism, makes its way to Slugger Field on Thursday, from 6pm to 9pm. It’s free and they’re inviting everyone.
All-Star outfielder and former Louisville Bat Jay Bruce headlines the personalities to be on hand along with catcher and Slugger Field fave Corky Miller, Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman, GM Walt Jocketty and more. If the kids enjoy a good mascot, Cincinnati’s Mr. Redlegs and Louisville’ Buddy Bat will also be on hand.
During the event, the Reds will raffle off two tickets to their opening day contest against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scheduled for Monday, April 1st at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is at 4:10pm
The idea behind the Reds Caravan is to give fans a chance to interact with players, broadcasters, management and front office personnel. The tour stops at 15 locations in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky winding around the Cincinnati home base. And as you might imagine, sales officials will be on hand as well to discuss season ticket options ranging from a 13 game package up to the full 81 home games. Group outing packages are available as well. As time permits, the group will sign autographs and answer questions about the team and the upcoming season.
This years Reds Caravan stop also marks the 14th year that the Louisville Bats have been the Cincinnati farm team and the 14th year they’ve played at Slugger Field. The Bats open their season right after the Reds on Thursday, April 4th at home against the Toledo Mud Hens. Opening pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm. Tickets are still available as well as season tickets and group outing packages.
