Sub Rosa: The Creative Courtyard has been at the forefront of entertainment networking in Louisville since it began as a simple meeting in an apartment under the title "Louisville Speak Easy" in 2008. After becoming public and moving to a bigger venue, it became known as "Sub Rosa: The Creative Courtyard". Over 400 shows were produced between 2008 and 2011, showcasing and paying local talents of varying media, including filmmakers, poets, visual artists, musicians, fashion designers, comedians and others in many different venues in two states.
In 2011, producer and emcee Divinity Rose (myself) took a one year hiatus and then brought back a monthly meetup at the request of attendees. The name was changed to "Sub Rosa: The Creative Courtyard" and ran throughout the year at Bearno's Highlands.
This Friday will be the last Sub Rosa as I am turning my entire focus to personal artistic endeavors and projects. I look forward to closing this chapter in my life with one of our most powerful featured musicians Al Holbrook. When he first joined our family, he was living in Ohio but has since migrated to Nashville. He will be the featured performer the month at the Bearno's Highlands, although there is still open mic availability for any musicians or other performers who want to come and celebrate the last very creative five years in Louisville history.
The open mic lists go out at 8:30 p.m. and the show starts at about 9 p.m. Holbrook's powerful vocals, piano and lyrics are not to be missed. He creates a stir everywhere he goes. The show is (as always) free to attend.
Musicians are encouraged to bring their own cables to plug in to the provided PA system. If you need other amplification or equipment, please bring it. All types of acts are encouraged to come and sign up. We are a very open minded and accepting crowd.
I have been extremely honored and grateful to serve and perform with so many talented individuals over the years and look forward to pursuing my own artistic endeavors while seeing so many continue to blossom.
