Louisville based Covered Bridge Pony Club member Mary Peabody Camp, age 14, has been selected as a member of the United States Pony Club’s Mounted Games International Exchange Team. This team will leave on April 5 to participate in a Mounted Games competition and exchange in Australia.
Mary Peabody Camp is the daughter of Missy and Henry Camp and is a C-2 certified Pony Club member. Mary attends Louisville Collegiate School and is a freshman.
As a member of the very accomplished Pony Club Games Team, The Gummi Bears, Mary and Team won the 2011 The Prince Phillip Cup at Rolex, The United States Pony Club National Championships, The President’s Cup at Fairhill, and the United States Mounted Games Association’s Series Championship.
Mary joins her new teammates from New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, as members the International Exchange Team for a final training camp in LaGrange, Kentucky on April 2-4 before leaving from Louisville on April 5. Coach of the International Pony Club Games Team is Sara Greiling of Wendhover Farm.
Team members and their coach will arrive in Sydney to meet the other exchange teams from Canada, Great Britain, and host Australia.
Mounted Games started as a Pony Club activity in Great Britain in 1957. In 1956 His Royal Highness Prince Philip was interested in starting a team competition for Pony Club riders who didn’t have show ponies. The result is a series of games on horseback for teams of four riders.
