Local all-female pop-Americana group Southern Sirens has been selected to compete in the Pepsi “Southern Original” contest. Southern Sirens is Anna Blanton (violin, backing vocals), Emmy Bodner (lead vocals, guitar), and Madison Cunningham (drums, cajon, backing vocals). They’ve been performing in the Louisville area for nearly two years and have opened for nationally recognized acts Bruno Mars and Carlene Carter; they have also performed at Abbey Road on the River and the Crusade for Children telethon.

The trio was one of 80 finalists chosen out of 5,000 online entries to compete in Birmingham, Alabama. Out of those finalists, the group garnered a slot in the top 11. They will compete in “The Search to Find A Southern Original” at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Florida this weekend. Southern Sirens will be the only group representing the state of Kentucky in this national competition.
