The local bookstore, Carmichael’s, is playing host to a plethora of programs and events over the next month. Get involved in a book group, children’s storytimes, and very special author events. Here’s a rundown for you:
Thursday, August 21, 7pm
Cure for the Common Book Club
Carmichael’s own booksellers will lead a discussion with some fresh ideas on how to choose books that are well suited for good discussions for your own book club or one of which you are a member. It will be a discussion panel type evening with plenty of brainstorming. Recommendations from staff will be given, and those will be available for purchase. Learn about the benefits you can reap when you join your book club with Carmichael’s registration program. Free books, door prizes, giveaways and refreshments will be available. The event is free and open to all in the community.

Leatha Kendrick & Stephen Rhodes
Carmichael’s welcomes Kentucky poets Leatha Kendrick and J. Stephen Rhodes for a reading from their newest collections of poetry.

Carmichael’s Kids Presents Children’s Storytime
The new Carmichael’s Kids Bookstore will be launching two weekly storytimes every Monday and Thursday at the new children’s bookstore in the Highlands. Thursdays will feature guest storytellers and local authors from around the Louisville community. Storytimes are recommended for children ages 2-5.

Meet author Kevin Gibson present a reading of Louisville Beer at a special book launching at the new BBC Craft House. This program is given in conjunction with LIBA and Crescent Hill Trading Co. There will be adult beverages served.

Mark your calendars for a special event with author Carl Hiaasen. The #1 New York Times bestselling author will be here on Tuesday, September 30 at 7pm at a ticketed author event at Louisville Collegiate School.
