The Parking Lots were full going into Bellarmine Wednesday night, as spectators, players and personnel of all sorts made their way into the 41st Annual Girl’s LIT Tournament.
Day two of the tourney saw college scouts and close matchups throughout the games, as Christian Academy upset Ballard to claim their ticket to round three, where they will test their skills against Glasgow, a Western Kentucky school that has certainly proved their abilities through the season.
In addition DuPont Manual knocked out Bullitt East in a game featuring a lot of fan fare. Manual will see Walton, Kentucky’s Walton Verona Independent Friday in round three. It’s difficult to say how Manual will fare against a Walton Verona team that many in the Louisville area are unfamiliar with.
In one of the most nail biting matchups of the tournament Mercy, through a fourth quarter spurt defeated Eastern. Mercy Academy will have another tough matchup Friday as they square off against Lexington’s Paul Dunbar in round three.
In the final game of the evening Sacred Heart beat out Assumption in a very tight game. Sacred Heart will see Owensboro Catholic in the next round, in a game that could prove to be very interesting.
The tournament is set to continue on Friday, returning to Bellarmine at 4:00 for Manual-Walton Verona, following this match-up will be the Dunbar-Mercy game, then Owensboro Catholic-Sacred Heart at 7:00, and the night will conclude at 8:30 for Glasgow-Christian Academy.
The winners of these will go on to the semi-finals, and the tournament will declare its champion on Saturday.
