The Liminal Playhouse will begin its inaugural season with the farce "Christmas on Mars," opening Sept. 3, 2015.
"Christmas on Mars" will take place Sept. 3-5 and 10-12 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees are to happen on Sept. 6 and 13 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances are to go on at the Henry Clay Theatre, located in the Henry Clay Building at 604 S. Third Street.
Tickets for each show are $18 per person and can be purchased at the door or The Liminal Playhouse website.
"Christmas on Mars" focuses on themes of longing for love and the desire to be needed. Bruno and Audrey are about to get married. They are forced to let Audrey's mother, Ingrid, move in to help pay the rent on their bare apartment. Making matters more complicated, Bruno's friend Nissim decides to move in after finding out Audrey is pregnant. All four see the soon-to-be newborn as a new beginning for each of them. How will they survive in the same house together? Can they find meaning in their own lives?
Harry Kondoleon created the production, which Tony Prince directed for The Liminal Playhouse. The cast features Jon Patrick O'Brien, Victoria Reibel, Michael Roberts and Susan Linville.
Following "Christmas on Mars," The Liminal Playhouse will return with "Melancholy Play: A Contemporary Farce." That production will go on in March and April 2016.
