There's no two ways about it, the Experience Hendrix Tour 2014 is the greatest guitar show of the year.  The tour features  original Hendrix player Billy Cox (from Band of Gypsies), and Chris Layton of Stevie Ray Vaughn's Double Trouble, as they bring a long line of key guitar players to try and fill a void that Hendrix left in the world nearly forty-five years ago.

Imagine a drunken bar conversation that begins with, "Who can replace Hendrix?"

The Experience Hendrix 2014 Tour, is the audition for such a hypothetical...any name you would have sloshed across that table, is actually going to be live on-stage tonight, trying to replace Hendrix.  You have blues legend Buddy Guy, and future blues legends Kenny Wayne Sheperd and Johnny Lang on-hand.  Heavy Metal giant Zakk Wylde, who has been the only player to adequately fill Randy Rhoad's shoes in Ozzy Osborne's band, will be around to some heavy lifting.  Bootsy Collins of Parliament-Funkadelic will be dropping the bass rhythms, along side Dweezil Zappa, Doyle Bramhall II, and Cesar Rosas with David Hidalgo (both from Los Lobos).

It's a stacked bill from end to end - and if you can get ahold of tickets, the show is tonight at Whitney Hall @ Kentucky Center for the Arts.  Showtime is 7:30 PM - if you are a guitar guy, by any definition, you cannot miss this show.

    About Brent Owen

Born and raised in Louisville, I have lived here most of my life (except during a short furlough, when I, lovelorn and naive, followed a girl to Baton Rouge). My roots are here, my family, my friends, and my life are all here. I work primarily as a free-lance writer for a few local and regional publications. I have also written two books (one a memoir, the other a novel) that barring some divine intervention, will probably never see the light of day. I find myself deeply ingrained in the local bar scene, or perhaps better said, I often indulge in the local drinking culture. I love music, movies, comedy, and really just about any other live performance art.
