I’ve lived in this city most of my life and never ventured inside of The Leatherhed in the Highlands of Louisville. I knew where the store was but never had any idea of what I would find inside.  After an unfortunate accident with my autographed Steve Madden heels and red wine I had to find a leather repair shop to take them to.  Walking into the Leatherhead I was taken aback by all of the merchandise and autographed pictures of some of their famous clients. Unless you’ve heard about it from someone else you would never know that this local shop has had huge Hollywood actors for clients; Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom to name a few. This local shop has also had some of its merchandise featured on Oprah Winfrey’s former talk show.

The Leatherhead has been in our region since 1967. Its current location has been serving the Highlands of Louisville for the last 33 years. Leatherhead has an excellent reputation for selling the highest quality leather merchandise; boots, belts, guitar straps, wallets, jewelry, gloves, jackets, satchels, saddles, shoes, bags, leather hides and various custom leather creations. They’re not only reputable for their merchandise but also for custom corporate designed leather products including logo embossing.

The Leatherhead is located at 1601 Bardstown Road; near the corner of Bonnycastle Ave and Bardstown Rd. When you visit the store and you’re greeted by owners Lynn and Nick Boone. Nick is a skilled leather-worker and Lynn is very friendly and full of knowledge about the products, services, leather good, brands, and pretty much anything else about her store and its merchandise.

Even with the Boone’s Hollywood connections, they remain down-to-earth and unassuming. Go to the store and browse around; it could take 20 minutes or two hours. There is much to look at and talk about with co-owner Lynn. Its totally worth your time and whatever money you spend. Whether you shop for leather goods or jewelry, you won’t be disappointed in the quality of their items. Be sure to go in and experience it for yourself; The Leatherhead is open Monday thru Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    About Bella Portaro

Happiness Cultivator. Blogger. Writer. Social Media and PR Maven. Dreamer. Louisville Lover. Blogger at Bella of Louisville; a lifestyle blog. A lifestyle is- by definition to me - the way in which one chooses to live their life. As I’ve entered into this chapter / book of my life with a strong understanding of who I am, lifestyle has become about the art of living well. This idea goes beyond creating a beautiful home and investing in my wardrobe. Living well means being kind, being good company, contributing to your community, and becoming a person of substance and grace. If designing a life full of substance and grace isn’t aspirational, I don’t know what else is. I love writing about events and things to do in Louisville. I hope you enjoy my posts and connect with me on social media!
