Jeffersontown, Kentucky was founded on May 3, 1797 and was named “Brunerstown” unofficially. It has grown from originally around 240 residents to the now more than 26,500. It is a thriving area of Louisville with many local businesses, restaurants, a beautiful branch of the Louisville Free Public Library, and wonderful schools.

This Saturday, May 11, from 10am-2pm, residents and other visitors can learn about the foundation and roots of the city of Jeffersontown at the first Founders Day in historic downtown Jeffersontown and Gaslight Square. Come take part in the celebration complete with a petting zoo, live folk music, and a Daniel Boone reenactment.

There is a complete listing of activities listed on the Facebook event page.

The Jeffersontown Farmers Market will also be open, so come support this local farmer’s market from 8am-12:30pm.

The festivities will be held at The Pavilion in Gaslight Square, located at 10434 Watterson Trail in the heart of Jeffersontown.
