Dr. M. Shawn Copeland will discuss “Compassion & Relationality: Toward a Theology of Solidarity” tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22, at Bellarmine University’s Horrigan Hall at 7:00 p.m. The lecture will be in Hilary’s.
Dr. Copeland is an associate professor of systematic theology in the Department of Theology and in the Program in African and African Diaspora Studies at Boston College. She is the author of more than 80 journal articles and book chapters on such topics as the meaning of the human person, social suffering, political theology, gender, race and African-American Catholicism. Copeland is the principal editor of 2009’s Uncommon Faithfulness: The Black Catholic Experience (Orbis Books), and author of Enfleshing Freedom: Body, Race and Being (2010, Fortress Press).
Copeland is a former convener of the Black Catholic Theological Symposium, an interdisciplinary learned association of Black Catholic scholars, and is a former president of the Catholic Theological Society of America. She received her Ph.D. from Boston College.
