“You guys are so fun,” Kelsey Kopecky said to the dancing and cheering crowd after performing her band’s latest single, “Quarterback” at Zanzabar last night. And she was right; the entire vibe was incredibly fun.
Formerly known as the Kopecky Family Band, the eclectic group of six Nashville natives made an exciting stop at Zanzabar last night. This was the band’s second time to the Germantown dance hall within the span of a year, their last visit being in October of last year when they performed alongside a fellow Nashville Indie pop band, COIN.
In promotion of their freshly released second album, Drug for the Modern Age, the band which is now simply called Kopecky performed several danceable tunes to the adventurous Monday night crowd. Doors opened at 8pm last night to a small handful of people arriving to spend their Monday night dining on the establishment’s inventive menu of classic hometown favorites. But as the clock ticked closer to the scheduled show time at 9pm, the tiny bar became completely packed with Louisville’s most loyal Kopecky fans ready to party.
And a party is exactly what they got. Kopecky was last night’s only performer. And after going onstage proudly without an opener, they soon proved that they didn’t need one. Once the music began pumping throughout the bar, the energetic crowd went wild.
Kopecky’s musical resume of indie pop alone creates an amazingly friendly scene for their audience. And this vibe mixed with the exciting energy brought by the band’s six fun-loving musicians and the small, dark dance floor of Zanzabar made for an excellent environment for every music lover in attendance.
If you missed Kopecky’s performance last night, you can catch them on their American tour all summer long. And be sure to keep an eye out for the release of the music video for their new single, "Talk to Me." For more info on the band, their tour dates and to listen to their music, visit their website!
