Jeffersontown is in the middle of their biggest party of the year...The Gaslight Festival. It's the halfway point, and some of the biggest events still await.

Tonight (Thursday) is the most popular event of the entire week-long festival...The Gaslight Parade. Taylorsville Road will be lined with hundreds, perhaps thousands, of folks looking at convertibles with waiving passengers, clowns (and politicians) making everyone smile, and some very unique floats put together by local businesses and organizations. It's most definitely the event that many people look forward to all year long.

The Grand Marshal of this year's parade is none other than Calvin Borel, the jockey who has guided his horse to victory in three out of the past four years at The Derby.

The parade starts at 6pm at the Jefferstown Commons Shopping Center, 9525 Taylorsville Rd.

    Other Gaslight Events

Friday from dusk until 10pm, the sky will be lit up during the Balloon Glow at Skyview park, 2700 Watterson Trail.

Friday through Sunday, Gaslight Square and the surrounding area will be crammed full of festival events, including live bands (Mom's School of Rock puts on a showcase of talent on Sunday), arts and crafts, a karaoke competition, and the festival's oldest tradition...the pipe smoking competition.
