Calm your soul by experiencing an evening of Bharata Natyam, a form of South Indian dance, by Jaan R. Freeman at Yoga on Baxter (1611 Eastern Pkwy @ Baxter Ave) Saturday night.

Jaan Freeman, a dancer, choreographer, and teacher from New York City, will perform this popular, classical Indian dance form incorporating complex footwork and decorative hand gestures as well as miming story telling.

Freeman’s previous projects include working with the Murray Louis Project, Martha Graham Ensemble, and many other notable dance companies.

The form of dance Freeman will perform for his audience Saturday night originates from rituals and offerings in Hindu temples.

Yoga on Baxter studio will host the performance at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011. Tickets are $20 at the door, or $16 in advance and for students and seniors.
