HullabaLOU is like the Osmonds – a little bit country, and a little bit rock n’ roll.  One of the “harder” rockers at the festival will be The Black Crowes, led by Chris Robinson who was married to actress Kate Hudson.  I saw this act perform at the 2009 Forecastle Festival, and Robinson looked like a Woodstock transplant like many others there, but HullabaLOU is a very different environment and seems to be geared toward a different audience.  Nonetheless, The Black Crowes have been added to this genre hodgepodge and should deliver their usual grooviness spiked with rock n' roll.

The Black Crowes have been around since 1984, except for a three year hiatus between 2002 and 2005, with a lineup that has more former members than Kate Hudson has had Hollywood lovers (I’m not an expert in this, but tabloid magazines seem to agree that there’s a load of them).  They reached the height of their fame with the album Shake Your Money Maker in 1990, but have been releasing albums as recently as August 2009 (Before the Frost… Until the Freeze), and have scheduled an August 2010 release date for their new acoustic album Croweology.

With a 26 year catalog and an upcoming album, it’s hard to say what The Black Crowes will play at HullabaLOU, but they’ll be doing what they do on Sunday, July 25, at 4:15pm on the Kroger Stage.
