Want to be a writer? Already a writer? Modern technology is on your side – prove yourself and publishing is more possible than ever before, what with self-publishing and e-publishing options. But there is, of course, one requirement: the ability to write. Perhaps you want to be better at writing. Perhaps you already feel pretty confident of your skills but feel you could improve, or want some outside instruction or feedback.
This Saturday, January 24, author Bob Millard is leading the first in a series of writing workshops at the main branch of the library. The first session will deal with organization of the workshops as well as assessing individual needs. Says Millard: “The workshop is meant to create community, encourage you to write by offering in-class and out of class writing prompts, help participants improve as poets and writers with mechanics of writing and constructive critique.”
Bob Millard is the founder of Louisville’s street newspaper Our Paper Louisville. His twenty-year writing career also includes newspaper reporting, published poetry, music criticism, songwriting, as well as journalism credits with Variety, The Nashville Banner, and The Dallas-Times Herald, to name a few. The workshop begins at 10:00 but arrive around 9:45, where you will be met at the door. There is a $25 registration fee and a pre-paid charge of $20 per workshop (there will be four).
