If you’ve lived in the Louisville area for long, you know what happens the second weekend of March each year on the outskirts of downtown.
Since that weekend often corresponds with my birthday celebrations, I sometimes let the madness that can be the annual St. Patrick’s Day festivities of the area slip my mind. A year ago, I encouraged a group of out-of-towners to follow me to Lynn’s Paradise Café – where we were greeted by what I am pretty sure they called a 4 day wait for a table.
This is not to call the area impassable or to suggest it is not a GREAT destination this weekend.
It is only to serve as a reminder to budget extra time and remember you probably won’t be the only one wanting famous French Toast at 1PM Saturday.
Below are a list of street closings and no parking areas as they pertain to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Saturday:
The following streets will be closed during the following times
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Broadway from Barret Avenue to Baxter Avenue
2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Baxter Avenue from Broadway to Morton Avenue
2:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Baxter Avenue from Morton Avenue to Highland Avenue
3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Bardstown Road from Highland Avenue to Longest Avenue
The following streets will be designated No Parking during the following times;
11a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Broadway from Barret Avenue to Baxter Avenue
• Baxter Avenue from Rogers Street to Broadway
12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Baxter Avenue from Broadway to Morton Avenue
• Bardstown Road from Broadway to Highland Avenue
12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Baxter Avenue from Morton Avenue to Highland Avenue
