When your taste buds are tingling for some authentic foreign cuisine, Louisville is a great place to start. Unlike most cities in Kentucky, Louisville offers a wide variety of original recipes. The city is known for offering success to chefs from all over the world who want to passionately share their delicious dishes with the community, which is one of the reasons why Chef Maria Bell chose to relocate her Hardin County business to the heart of Old Louisville.

Chef Maria’s Bistro provides Louisville with more than just a tasty menu of authentic Greek food. This restaurant offers that special secret ingredient only Mom knows how to work with in the kitchen: Love.

Originally from Greece, Chef Bell has traveled all over Kentucky whipping up her favorite Mediterranean meals starting with her first restaurant, Gyro Express, which she opened in Radcliff, Kentucky in the beginning of 2000. With Radcliff being located right outside the gates of Fort Knox, Chef Bell’s gyros were a total hit not only with the residents of the small town, but also with the soldiers living on the nearby military base.

Now 15 years later, the hard-working mother and grandmother is still at it in the kitchen bringing her deliciously authentic cuisine to the people of Louisville. She has transformed her original deli-style restaurant concept to a complete bistro dining experience. And as she promises to continue serving up her delectable fare in such a classic setting, she kindly asks for the help of her loyal customers.

Chef Bell is in need of new kitchen appliances and equipment for her restaurant and she is hoping to find this support from the city she has come to call home. All donations are greatly appreciated and can be made on the Chef Maria’s Bistro’s Go Fund Me page.

And of course Chef Bell invites everyone in to try one of her famous gyros or lentil soup Tuesday – Thursday from 4pm – 10pm and Friday – Saturday from 11am – 10pm. And starting on July 12th, Chef Bell will be opening her doors for brunch every Sunday from 10am – 2pm!
