This Saturday, November 10, from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., the Muhammad Ali Center and the Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice will host the free community celebration, Hello Neighbor: Day of Dignity, Day of Compassion. This event will feature live entertainment, community and health resources, family activities, and food from local restaurants.

A new addition to this year’s celebration is a film entitled “11Eleven”, that will be shown at 2:30. p.m.  A documentary highlighting the similarities of people across cultures and nationalities, “11Eleven” is the result of the filmmakers requests send to for individuals in countries around the globe to capture a moment in their lives on November 11, 2011 (11.11.11). Submissions came from 179 countries and each one provides insight into the lives of our neighbors around the world. (For more information on the film, visit: http://www.11elevenproject.com/.)

The exhibits are free and open to the public during the day of the event but donations are requested for Kentucky Refugee Ministries, who will distribute the donations to benefit refugees in the area. All donations will be accepted and appreciated but the highest need items are: blankets, shower curtains, alarm clocks, can openers, towels and washcloths.

In addition to the Muhammad Ali Center, the Hello Neighbor: Day of Dignity, Day of Compassion is also co-sponsored by the Muhammad Ali Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of Louisville, Islamic Relief USA, and Kentucky Refugee Ministries.
