Halestorm—a rocking quartet from Pennsylvania composed of front woman Lzzy Hale, lead guitarist Joe Hottinger, bass guitarist Josh Smith, and drummer Arejay Hale—began over a decade ago. Lzzy and her brother and current drummer, Arejay, started the group when she was 13 and he was 10. However, it took some time for the group to strike major stardom. The two had "lost a talent show to a tap-dancing cowgirl, played Friendly's for free ice cream, piled the stage with homemade explosives that sometimes went off right in front of their faces, and even played at a funeral." They were eventually playing local bars even though they were underage. Finally, Joe Hottinger became the guitarist in 2003, while bassist Josh Smith joined in 2004. In 2005, Halestorm signed a deal with Atlantic Records and released a live EP titled One and DoneIn 2009, the band released their self-titled full-length album, which scored two top ten singles: I Get Off and It's Not You.

They have toured steadily for two years with well-known acts, such as Shinedown, Stone Sour, Megadeth, Papa Roach, Godsmack, and so much more. The group is back and currently on tour with their second full-length album, The Strange Case Of..., which was released in 2012. This album is said to be musically diverse and emotionally revealing. Lzzy Hale said, "This new record demonstrates more depth and heart. It's a lot more expressive and really lets down the barriers." Halestorm will be performing at the Mercury Ballroom on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m. with opening act New Medicine. The show is currently sold out, but concertgoers who have already purchased their tickets will have the chance to rock out to I Miss The Misery, Freak Like Me, Here's To Us, and all of the awesome songs on The Strange Case Of...
