Today marked a special day for the health of Louisvillians as Jenny Boice and Kammaleathahh Livingstone of Sustainable Health Choices hosted the grand-opening of their new office space within the Highlands-location Rainbow Blossom Natural Foods Market. Walking past the aisles stocked with produce, organic beauty products, and fascinating supplements, you’ll find the office that visibly communicates serenity and relaxation. Here I spoke to Jenny Boice. Boice, a Clinical Master Herbalist, imparted some insight as to how a typical session with her would be conducted and what would be accomplished.

“Everything starts from diet or eating, I guess eating better describes it. Most people say ‘I don’t want to be on a diet’ and it’s not really about being on a diet. So I take what they’re eating and how they’re eating, and start nutritional education from there,” she says.

She will take into account one’s core energy, and how to balance that energy with specific energy routines. Also, as an herbalist, she feels herbals are a viable way to deal with medical conditions, thus may prescribe various supplements which are conveniently available on Rainbow Blossom’s shelves.

I then talked to Kammaleathahh Livingstone, a licensed massage and bodywork therapist, about what a typical session with her would involve. It begins with a consultation to determine what the client is seeking, during which Livingstone has them stand in front of her so she can assess their body alignment.

“I consider their alignment from foot to knee to hip, all the way up. There are balances and imbalances and it is all part of an integrated picture to relieve pain or even increase rib flexibility to enable better breathing.” Kammaleathahh Livingstone utilizes acupressure pressure points and massage to produce results naturally.

As part of Sustainable Health Choices, additional services offered include massage and bodywork, education encompassing a variety of classes and lectures, health coaching, and pregnancy wellness and support. The concept of “proactive response rather than reactive emergency" is stressed here, so be sure to book your first consultation soon!

Contact information for both women is available on their websites, www.jennyboice.com and www.sustainablehealthchoices.com.
