    Eat & Swig

Everyone has a little ELVIS about them.   Some have the lip curl, some have the hair, some are even Elvis impersonators, my buddy Aaron Miller has been for years.  He bought a sequined jumpsuit, wig and sunglasses.  I’m not sure he purchased the hip swivels though.

Some People are Elvis Collectors, my friend Jennifer Jobe is one.

“My classroom, my home office, my movie and music collection pay tribute to him daily. My stories are more little things like Mom told me of Daddy being jealous of Elvis to the point he didn't like her going to his movies, or my first trip to Graceland and I cried when I saw the gates, and the crazy Elvis collectables people give me."

Unfortunately for me, all I got was Elvis’s appetite.  Today is the King’s BIRTHDAY – He would have been 77 today. So while some will dress up like the KING.  Some will look at all their collectibles of the King.  I will eat like the KING.

TODAY - Chuy’s will pay tribute to Elvis with their annual Birthday Bash, at both  the Louisville and Clarksville, IN locations. The King’s 77th birthday party will have a Blue Hawaii theme, so wear your Hawaiian shirt (or coconut bra).  Chuy’s will offer special pricing on their longtime favorites - Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken. Chuy’s will also have the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo (Think beef Tex-Mex enchilada, a cheese Ranchero enchilada, a chicken tomatillo enchilada, a crispy taco, and to top it all off: chile con queso).

And Today only, those who come dressed as the King (or his better half Priscilla), the entree is free!  The day will also be filled with party favors, including Hawaiian leis, Elvis sideburn tattoos and a special Big Kahuna cup, available when you purchase a margarita or Blue Hawaiian.  Limited edition Elvis and Priscilla T-shirts will be available to commemorate the big day.

Why the fascination with Elvis at a Mexican restaurant?  The story goes that founders, Mike Young and John Zapp,  took over an old barbecue restaurant in Austin and spent all their money getting the basics installed.  After all the work, legend has it that the partners found they had only $20 left for decorations. So, Zapp used the money to buy velvet paintings of Elvis.

So go – embrace your INNER KING!  ALL DAY TODAY (SUNDAY) – open for Lunch and dinner.
