Less than a month away from the biggest event on Louisville’s waterfront, Forecastle Festival has released its set schedule.
Music begins at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and 1:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Forecastle jams will conclude at 11:00 p.m. on Friday on and Sunday while My Morning Jacket’s headlining set will last until 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. On Friday and Saturday the music will continue until the early morning at various local venues in town.
Every band at the festival got at least 45 minutes for their set.
Some highlights that the schedule reveals include a local back-to-back set from Twin Limb and White Reaper early Sunday on the WFPK Port Stage and My Morning Jacket getting 2.5 hours for Saturday’s headlining set.
Forecastle looks to have a done a good job not forcing festival-goers to have many strict conflicts. Sets have been placed in intervals so that there is rarely an instance when two bands have the exact same set time, though a few people have expressed their frustration with the overlapping Modest Mouse and Portugal. The Man sets.
Non-headlining set to watch in its entirety
Friday: Cage The Elephant—(7:30-8:45) These Bowling Green rocker haven’t been to Louisville in a few years so their set is bound to bring a big people crowd filled with anticipation. You should catch all 75 minutes of this band. That forces you to miss the first 15 minutes of Houndmouth but that just might be the sacrifice you need to take. You’ll have another hour of Houndmouth,.
Saturday: Dr. Dundiff & Friends—(4:00-5:00) This local DJ/drummer/producer is going to play maestro to 60 minutes of a Louisville hip hop showcase featuring MCs like Touch AC, JaLin Roze, 1200 and more all backed by Smoke Shop Kids. If you are from Louisville or coming from across the country, missing this set means missing the thing we’ll all be talking about weeks after Forecastle. Catching this set means you only miss 15 minutes of Chris Stapleton and The Word.
Sunday: Modest Mouse—(6:30-8:00) When the lineup was released, Modest Mouse’s inclusion was perhaps the wow factor. It had been 8 years since they had released an album before they gave the world Strangers to Ourselves in March. Songs like “Float On” and “Dashboard” will send the Forecastle faithful into a frenzy. Those watching Modest Mouse will have to miss nearly all of Portugal. The Man's set.
