Never mind the suits and swagger of that other team down the road. Bellarmine University’s men’s basketball team is ready for the spotlight—an easy walk from Bardstown Road.

The 27-2 Knights, who started the season by defeating #18 Division I Xavier, recently won their second consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference championship, regarded as the toughest contest in Division II. Led by Coach Scott Davenport—who studied under none other than Denny Crum and Rick Pitino but left the red behind—the top-seeded Knights will host the Midwest Regionals starting this coming Saturday, March 12, with a 6 p.m. tipoff against #8 Indianapolis in Knights Hall. The stand will continue Sunday and Tuesday.

Tickets will go on sale in the Knights Hall lobby (off Norris Place) on Tuesday for season ticket holders, with general public sales starting on Wednesday. Sale times will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the tickets will cost $12 for reserved, $10 for general admission and $5 for Bellarmine students with ID. (Please note that because of high school basketball action in Knights Hall on Tuesday, the final hour of ticket sales will take place in the Knights Hall Athletic Office.)

For more information, contact Bellarmine’s athletic office at 272-8380 or visit http://lou.ly/NCAAatBU. You can also download a full bracket at the NCAA website, http://www.ncaa.com/brackets/basketball-men/d2/2011.
