Bernheim Forest has loads happening on Saturday, Sept. 17th. Starting with the plant sale, attendees may peruse and purchase the Bernheim "Select" crop of species native to the region. Just quiz the Bernheim horticulture staff about the perks of including bunches of these plants in your yard space. Admission to the plant sale is solely the price of the vehicle ($5--which gets you into Bugfest, too!). The sale begins at 9am for non-members, 8am for members.

"Invasive Species"--a course that is part of the ever-popular Smart Gardens and Landscapes Series--takes place from 10am to noon tomorrow. Pre-registration is required by 4pm today. Registration is $10 for members and $15 for non-members. The class will cover all the flora nuisances that pop up in your limited, urban space and how to counter them.

And bugs are not the nuisance. The insects are at their last hoorah before winter eventually does them all in. Capable of inspiring a hearty case of the willies, Bugfest--an event suitable for all ages interested in some creepy crawlies--will be happening all day from 11am to 4pm at the visitor center. The event is free for members and non-members alike (after mandatory $5 entry per vehicle).
