There are ample opportunities to learn about bourbon in Louisville. That’s part of what makes it the Bourbon Capital of the World. The Whisky Chicks have been instrumental in making sure those education opportunities reach everyone. On Wednesday, May 13th at 6 p.m., Westport Whiskey and Wine will host the third installment of The Whisky Chicks’ latest tasting series, which focuses on non-Kentucky bourbon whiskeys. This session will focus on Canadian whiskeys, non-Kentucky bourbons, ryes, micro-distilled, corn, and wheat whiskeys.
Guests will include Dave Pickerell and Megan Breier. According to the Whisky Chicks, “Pickerell spent 14 years of his career as the master distiller for Maker’s Mark. He was a significant part of the team that helped grow Maker’s Mark to be one of the highest selling and best known brands of bourbons in the world. Dave left Maker’s Mark in 2008 and has since consulted with over 80+ distilleries across the globe.” Breier is Beam-Suntory’s Kentucky Bourbon Ambassador. Chris Zaborowski of Westport Whiskey and Wine will be leading the discussion as usual.
Don’t let the name fool you, though. Unlike some other organizations, the Whisky Chicks welcome men to these events, as well: “P.S. Gentlemen are welcome to come to the tastings if and only if they can handle being in a room with women who love their bourbon and are comfortable being one of the “Chicks”.”
