Daikaiju, Neighbor, and Karass will be putting on a heck of a show Wednesday night, August 29th at The Cathouse at 747 S. Preston St. This blend of surf rock, post rock, and noise rock will leave you fully satisfied and wanting more rock. This is an all ages show and doors open at 8pm. Cover is $5.

Daikaiju, from Huntsville, Alabama, calls the genre of their music suupaa-mecha-kingu rock which in layman's terms can be described as surf rock. Through constant touring in support of the first EP, Monster Surf, Daikaiju managed to build up a substantial following through out the southeastern United States. They later toured the Netherlands in November 2001 and Europe in 2002. In February 2002 Daikaiju released their second EP, The Phasing Spider Menace which was popular on the college radio airwaves and won them over many new fans. In 2005 their debut, self-titled, full-length album was released on Reptile Records. The album garnered rave reviews from varying music publications including Pitchfork Media who called Daikaiju, "one of the greatest instrumental surf bands currently in existence."  In September 2010 their second full-length album, Phase 2, was released on DingDong Records and was listed in various annual Top 10 lists for surf, heavy metal and progressive rock releases. Daikaiju has been intensely touring the U.S. in support of Phase 2 playing well over 200 shows in 2011. Currently the band prepares to release new music and resume touring the United States and Europe this year.

Neighbor is a Louisville noise rock band formed in 2011 by Adam Kirby (bass/vocals), Aaron Sortman (drums), and Sean Gardner (guitar). The band's sound emanates from punk, classic soul, country, experimental, and underground influences to create a unique blend of Heavy American Rock & Roll. In October 2011 Neighbor released a free digital single, "Milktruck." In addition to playing numerous local and regional performances, the band is preparing a full length debut LP with Trip Barriger at Treehouse Audio.

Karass is also a Louisville band of the post rock/experimental persuasion formed by Chris Kincaid, Josh Claxton, Greg Ward, and Dennis Stein. If you like Mono, Minus the Bear, or Tortoise you will like Karass. The band is known for employing live loops, chimey guitars, interstellar electronics, driving bass, pulsing synths, thunderous drums, and weepy cello to create as they so eloquently describe their sound as, "sprawling soundscapes that drive forward towards an epic climax in a quirky, odd-metered fashion."

This is a show you will not want to miss. If you don't feel like battling the crowds at Waterfront Wednesday or dressing up as a flesh eating zombie than come hear some great music in a less crazy environment.
