‘Tis the season to spend dollars – many dollars. With the war-torn efforts of Black Friday still fresh and Cyber Monday in full swing today, wallets in Louisville might be a little tired. How about something nice and free for your wish list? Take a break from the blistering buzz of Holiday brouhaha and head out to the Louisville Free Public Library’s Main Branch to spend an evening with author Kim Edwards. Your pockets can rest easy for the night; no cash and no credit required as Edwards reads from her latest novel, The Lake of Dream.
A New York Times bestselling author, Kim Edwards is the mind behind the popular novel, The Memory Keeper’s Daughter, as well as the collection of short fiction, The Secrets of a Fire King. Awarded for her prose, Edwards has appeared in publications such as The Paris Review, Story, Ploughshares, and Zoetrope; her work has also been featured in the anthology Best American Short Stories. Tapping into her extensive storytelling background, Edwards explores the themes of family and lost love in her newest narrative. Following a woman’s homecoming to the shores of her youth, The Lake of Dreams visits the idea of heritage and personal understanding as the character unveils a life-changing secret past that alters her perspectives forever.
Experience the revelations for yourself first hand tomorrow evening at 7pm. Drop by the Main branch to hear Edwards’ presentation and check out a copy of The Lake of Dreams while you’re at it (it’s all still free!). No money need be exchanged for this event, but tickets are required. Fans can order online or call and reserve at 502-574-1644. Leave your wallet at home, tune out the Holiday hassle and enjoy a healthy dose of story-telling escapism.
