What’s going on this weekend that you and your family or significant other should not miss? This: a very cool event at Bernheim Forest called CONNECT. Four hours of intertwining art, music, science, and nature-it’s tomorrow evening, Saturday, August 23, from 6:24pm-10:24pm. What’s it all about? And what’s with the start time of 6:24pm?

At exactly two hours before the sun sets on Saturday evening, forest goers will gather around Bernheim’s Lake Nevin for a way to CONNECT: with each other, their surroundings, music and art, and with science. It’s an event that takes place annually. The event begins two hours before the sun sets and ends two hours after the sunset. Described on the website as “creative chaos”, the event will feature food, beer, interactions with the Louisville Astronomical Society, a project with the Kentucky Science Center, and drum group performances, puppeteering, video opps, and more. An awesome line up of eclectic musical performances will be brought in, including Appalatin, Billy Goat Strut Revue, and Bonnie “Prince” Bully, performing at the Sunset Amphitheatre.

Oh, and CONNECTions with sun boxes. What are sun boxes? Solar powered sound installations that create soothing and energizing sound environments. This event sounds like nothing I personally have ever experienced before, and it’s going on right in Louisville’s natural backyard: Bernheim Forest.

Members of Bernheim Forest and children ages 2-12 years enter at a price of $5; non-members enter at a price of $10 per person (children under age 2 have free admittance). For more information, see the website or their Facebook page. If you go and experience it, use the hashtag #CONNECTBERNHEIM and share with others.
