The AIDS Service Center Coalition, Inc. will present a memorial service to commemorate World AIDS Day this evening at Central Presbyterian Church in Old Louisville.  A reception will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the service, "A Memorial and Celebration of Life" at 7:00 PM.

During the service, a memory candle will be lit, and names of those who have died of HIV/AIDS will be read.  Local inclusive community choir, VOICES of Kentuckiana, will also perform.

The Sister Mary Bennet Cecil Award will be presented by the AIDS Interfaith Ministries of Kentuckiana, Inc.  Previous recipients  of this award include Daniel Coe, Dr. Karen Krigger, and Brad Hampton.

Rev. Mark Baridon, co-pastor of Central Presbyterian Church, said that church wanted to host the event because "we take seriously what Jesus said to love our neighbor as ourselves."  He added "the heart of any faith community is sharing love, compassion, and healing.  It's a part of the Christian tradition at its best when we live up to that."

TARC will provide free transit for all those wearing a red ribbon today.
