    Alegría, a Cirque du Soleil production combining artistry, athleticism, the spectacular, and the sublime, is coming to Louisville this summer. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, April 11, at 10 a.m. See below for details on performance dates and ticket purchases.

    The spectacle will take place Thursday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.;  and Sunday, June 12 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.  at the KFC Yum! Center.

    Prices depend on day, time, and seat location and range form $37-$98 for adults; $30-$80 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available online at www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or in person at the KFC Yum! Center, the Kentucky Exposition Center, and the Kentucky International Convention Center.  Information about group sales is available by calling 502-595-3555.

    Describing itself as "a baroque ode to the energy, grace and power of youth," Alegría promises trapeze acts, acrobatics, aerialists, fire-knife throwing, contortion, and high bars among other unique and visually enthralling acts all performed to live music created for the performance.

    A Spanish word meaning elation, joy, and jubilation, Alegría includes performers from 15 countries, over 400 costume pieces, and an intricate, imposing set. he breadth of talent on display at the Cirque du Soleil production creates an experience will awe anyone and everyone.

    Cirque du Soleil is itself a Quebec-based company which presented 20 shows in 2010 alone, including Alegría, Saltimbanco, Ovo, and Mystere, among  others. With its unreal antics and amazing visuals, Cirque du Soleil endeavors to invoke the imagination, provoke the senses and evoke the emotions of people around the world.
