While the Breeders' Cup is less than a month away, Churchill Downs unveiled the designs for the 137th runnings of the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks today

“Design trends change often, and this year we want to pay homage to the
tradition of the Kentucky Derby while also looking forward to its
future,” said Casey Cook, Churchill Downs’ vice president of brand and
    product development.

The designs both include stylized horse heads. In the Derby logo, the neck of the horse is slightly bent. The curvature calls to mind the famed first turn of the "World's Most Legendary Racetrack."

“The color palette and overall logo designs for the Kentucky Derby 137
and Kentucky Oaks 137 event marks are intended to celebrate spring in
an exciting, artful way while incorporating both events’ iconic marks
and brand color schemes in the mix,” explained Edward O’Hara of New York-based SME Branding.

Products featuring the new logos are already available online and will also be available at the track during the Fall Meet, which opens October 31st.
