Despite being a small operation in a hip little space in Mellwood Art Center, iWood Eco Design has become a fashion staple around the world. Seen in Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Cosmo, and over 90 other domestic and international publications, these sunglasses are the epitome of luxury, quality, and style.

President and CEO Stephen McMenamin's 20+ years of luxury goods experience (sales and design at Lacoste, Cross Pens, and Porsche Designs) is illustrated by the perfectly balanced, surprisingly lightweight designs carved from reclaimed luxury woods.

Stephen is excited about his latest press- an article in the summer edition of Southern Living - Weekend Getaways where his sunglasses are featured in an article entitled "Cool Stuff at Cool Places." The article, which will be out in May, entices readers to visit 21c Hotel and Museum and to pick up a pair of iWood's one-of-a-kind designer shades while there.

When I asked Stephen what's next in the world of sunglasses, he told me, "Vintage is hot - it's making a comeback not only in clothing but also in accessories."

So how can something so cool possibly be good for the planet? iWood only uses reclaimed woods in the making of their products, and the glue and protective coating that is used in finally assemblage is formaldehyde free and emits no VOC's.

So head down to Mellwood Art Center to pick up a pair of fabulously unique and sustainable sunglasses to wear under your big Derby hat today. Many styles exist for men too - so don't miss out on the action, fellas.

    About Elise Jenkins

I'm a shopping addict on a budget who loves everything from one-of-a-kind boutique finds to the clearance sales at Macy's. I celebrate the small things in life, like $8 Gap jeans, the perfect V-neck tee at Target, and Zappos outlet sales. My passions include ridiculously high heeled shoes, celebrity gossip, chocolate, fashion photography, coffee, Muse, gin, and my amazingly patient boyfriend and his vivacious 4 year old who isn't afraid to tell me when my shirts are "soooo ugly!" I write a style blog called "TheShoportunist.com" which is a reflection of my love for all things fashion.
